Wyeth Willard, former assistant to the president of Wheaton College and author of Fire on the Prairie: The Story of Wheaton College, suggests that the statement of faith has provided a steadfast faithfulness at Wheaton. Willard writes that the earnest prayers of its leaders have "guided the school through threatening perils, their faith unshaken and their vision neither narrowed nor dimmer."
