Academy Hall

Academy Hall was originally the Laura Shedd School, the education building for the Country Home for Convalescent Children. It was completed in 1918 and named after the daughter of retail magnate John Shedd, who donated extensively to Chicago charities, universities, and museums (and provided $3 million to build Chicago's Shedd Aquarium in the 1920s). When the Academy moved to the campus in 1945, the building was re-christened Academy Hall. It was demolished in June 2023.
