The Groundwork Laid

By 1851, a board of trustees and a donor list were generated for the new school. Trustees included Warren and Jesse Wheaton, Erastus Gary, Avery Chadwick, and John Cross. They purchased 40 acres of land near Warren Wheaton's farm from Gaius Howard for $150.
