Blanchard Sets the Course
Matlack's replacement, Jonathan Blanchard, would be credited with saving the school. He secured long-term funding, offered guidance through the lean Civil War years, oversaw the growth of the campus, and provided stability to Wheaton. His steady hand helped set Wheaton on the course that it finds itself today.
