World's Christian Fundamentalist Association
In 1919, Christian fundamentalists, under the leadership of Baptist minister William Bell Riley, gathered to form the World's Christian Fundamentalist Association. It was formed to launch a new Protestantism based on premillennial interpretations of biblical prophecy and opposition to evolution. Among the organizers was Wheaton College's Charles Blanchard, who wrote the WCFA's nine-point doctrinal statement. This "Declaration of Faith" was adopted unanimously.
