Kilby Study

In 1944, the Wheaton College Board of Trustees recruited English Professor Clyde Kilby to head a study on the future of the Academy. His report included a number of suggestions and recommendations, including a separate board of trustees for the Academy. Based on the findings of the report, the Board and Wheaton College President V. Raymond Edman recommended that the Academy have its own campus.
