Clear Mission
From the beginning, Wheaton College has had a clear mission. It was established by "courageous men of action who believed in God and the right." The school was to be dedicated to anti-slavery principles and to taking a stand against the evils of society, including liquor traffic, secret societies, worldly amusements, and particularly slavery."
