Prince Crossing Campus
Country Home for Convalescent Children
Country Home for Crippled Children (later the Country Home for Convalescent Children) opened on July 10, 1911, in DuPage County. It was a branch of the Home for Destitute Crippled Children in Chicago founded by Dr. Isaac Prince. To honor the founder of the home and its location near the Aurora Elgin & Chicago railroad crossing, the campus and train depot were renamed Prince Crossing.
The home provided care, cures, and education to children with disabilities and was affiliated with the Rush Medical College and later the University of Chicago. Children between the ages of 4 and 14 stayed free of charge for as long as necessary as they recovered from illnesses.
